About Paul

Paul Goderstad

Who's Behind the Mustache?

Turning the scenic outcasts into beauty is the attraction that drives Paul Goderstad’s artwork. Colorful and bold renditions are created from otherwise overlooked and forgotten places and subjects.

Around the corner, behind the shed is where Paul finds subject matter, believing that a good design can yield pleasure for the viewer in an unexpected way.

Primarily self taught but taking workshops from artists Ken Dewaard and Bonnita Budysz have given Paul fresh insight into his bold and colorful expression.

Paul is native to Wisconsin and grew up near Madison. The dairy state has produced 3 generations of Goderstad dairy workers, his grandfather and father were each cheese makers and Paul worked in a dairy production plant in Madison before moving his young family to Green Bay to work at Morning Glory Dairy. He is now retired and able to spend more time doing what he loves, oil painting.

Paul is married and has 2 grown sons, who also live in Green Bay with their wives.

Plein air painting, French for outdoors, is what truly excites Paul. He primarily travels around his community and the state in search of subject matter. Alternately, studio work is a necessity to hone his skills doing still lifes and completing commissioned paintings.
